If H is the distance fallen in time t,

H = (g/2) t^2

Set t = 3.10 s and solve for H.

g is the acceleration of gravity, 9.8 m/s^2

3.10 x 9.8=30.38

30.38^2=922.9444

922.9444/9.8^2

922.9444/19.6= 47.0m
