m=y2-y1/x2-x1
=(-3)-(-6)/1-(-5)
=3/6
=1/2

y=mx+b
y=1/2x+b

now use either of the points to solve for b

-3=1/2(1)+b
-3-1/2=b
2.5=b

so

y=0.5x+2.5

Reiny
-3 - 1/2 = -7/2 not 2.5

so y = (1/2)x - 7/2
