does wiping your perspiration increase the rate at which you perspire?

From a practical standpoint.... what is the purpose of perspiration? To cool the body, right? The air on a damp body will cool it. So, if you wipe the perspiration, then you have lost part of the cooling process, thus you will perspire more in order to provide the relief needed.
