if you have two 5 watt bulbs connected in series and then in parellel:

which of these arrangements willa allow the other bulb to continue glowing if one of the bulbs are removed?

If they are connected in series, the circuit is broken by removing one of the bulbs.

If they are connected in parallel, there is still a path for electrons to flow after a bulb is removed.
