1 = -2x^2-8x+1
x^2+4x = 0
x(x+4) = 0
x = 0 or -4
so the vertex is at (-2,y)
when x = -2, y = 9
so the vertex is at (-2,9)
check:
-2x^2 - 8x + 1
= -2(x^2+4x) + 1
= -2(x^2+4x+4) + 1 + 8
= -2(x+2)^2 + 9
vertex is at (-2,9)
x^2+4x = 0
x(x+4) = 0
x = 0 or -4
so the vertex is at (-2,y)
when x = -2, y = 9
so the vertex is at (-2,9)
check:
-2x^2 - 8x + 1
= -2(x^2+4x) + 1
= -2(x^2+4x+4) + 1 + 8
= -2(x+2)^2 + 9
vertex is at (-2,9)
