A 3.2 kg ball that is moving straight upward has 17 J of kinetic energy and its total mechanical energy is 25 J. (Assume there is no air resistance)
1. Find the gravitational potential energy of the ball.
2. What is its height above the ground?

Well, it has kinetic and potential energy
if the kinetic is 17 then the potential, m g h, is 25-17 = 8 Joules
3.2 * 9.81 * h = 8
solve for h
