width --- x
length = 2x - 40
2(x + 2x-40) = 280
solve for that mysterious x , then sub into my definitions

2(w + 2w-40) = 280
3w-40 = 140
3w = 180
w = 60
so the length is 2*60-40 = 80
check: 2(60+80) = 280 ✅
