Julia's number ---- x
Sam's number ---- x+88
give-away:
Sam now has .8(x+88) = .8x + 70.4
Julia now has .2(x+88) + x = 1.2x + 17.6
.8x + 70.4 = 2(1.2x + 17.6)
.8x + 70.4 = 2.4x + 35.2
35.2 = 1.6x
x = 22
Julia had 22 at the start and Sam had 110
check:
Sam gave 20% of 110 or 22 to Julia
So had 88 left and she now has 44
So Sam still has twice as many as Julia
My answer is correct.
