(1/3) D = 4/5 P multiply by 3
D = 12 P/5
D = 21 + P
so
21 + P = 12 P / 5
105 + 5 P = 12 P
7 P = 105
P = 15
then D = 21 + 15 = 36
P+D = 51
D = 12 P/5
D = 21 + P
so
21 + P = 12 P / 5
105 + 5 P = 12 P
7 P = 105
P = 15
then D = 21 + 15 = 36
P+D = 51

Philip's money --- x
Daniel's money = x+21
"1/3 of Damien's money is the same as 4/5 of Philip's money"
----> (1/3)(x+21) = (4/5)x
multiply by 15, the LCD
5(x+21) = 12x
5x + 105 = 12x
105 = 7x
x = 15
So Philip has 15 and Damian has 36
together they have ......
