Have you forgotten about PEMDAS as well?
-12 / 3 * (-8 + (-4^2) - 6) +2
-4 * (-8 + (-16) - 6) + 2
-4 * (-8-16-6) + 2
-4(-30) + 2
120 + 2

note that -4^2 = -16 because the exponent is done before the subtraction
(-4)^2 = +16 because it's really (-4)(-4)
(-4)^2 = +16 because it's really (-4)(-4)
