From midnight to 6:00 am, the temperature rose 8°C. At 6:00 am, the temperature was −20°C. What was the temperature at midnight?

so just to make sure i do:

8+(-20)=-12?

im pretty sure thats right but just checking and helping other students.

From midnight to 6:00 A.M. the temperature increased by 8 C.
So -20 C - 8 C = -28 C was T at midnight.
