⅗ of my marbles are white. I have 33 white marbles. How many marbles do I have altogether?

You would have 66 total marbles.
⅗ = 1/2
so,
33+33=66
total=66

Your statement of ⅗ = 1/2 is just gibberish.

Let the total number of marbles be x
(3/5)x = 33
x = 33(5/3) = 55

He had 55 marbles

check: what is 3/5 of 55 ?
