The width of a rectangle is one half its length. The perimeter of the rectangle is 54 cm. What are the width and length of the rectangle?

w= 1/2(L)

perimeter rectangle = w + w + L + L = 2w + 2L

54 = 2w + 2L

54 = 2 (1/2)(L) + 2L

54 = 3L

L = 18 cm

w= 1/2 (L) = 1/2(18) = 9 cm

Length = 2W.

2*W + 2*(2W) = 54
W = 9 cm = width.
Length = 2W = 18 cm.
