BobPursely gave this equation: x + 2x+3 + 3x+1= 9x+11 If you only look at the left side, you'll get 6x + 4. Your new equation should read: 6x + 4 = 9x + 11 Does that help?

Draw a picture. Make a big rectangle that has dimensions 60x100. Inside that rectangle, make a smaller rectangle with dimensions 30x50. Based on the picture, what do you think you should do to solve for the lawn?

Ok. From here, you need to solve for x. The easiest way to do that is to get x on one side of the equation. Do you know how to do that?

Think about what this line will look like. y=-1 for every x, right? So play with the x's. Plot (0, -1), (5, -1), (-1, -1). Seeing a pattern?

Plug -6 into the original equation. You should end up with -6^2 - 5. Solve from there.

hmmm, how is that possible? I calculated it to be 0, 0, 0, 0. Just to make sure, H is singly bonded to oxygen which is singly bonded to fluorine, which is double bonded to oxygen, right? Hmm, can you explain? FC = valence e - lone pair e- 1/2bonded e. FC...

Yes, number 2 is -1.667. If you rewrite number two as a mixed number, you'd have -1 2/3, right? The -1 is shown to the left of the decimal place. Knowing that, try the other two problems.
