This has been asked before But I didn't understand it. Carl wants to plant a garden that is 1 1/2 yards long and has an area of 3 1/2 square yards. How wide should he make the garden?

Area = length times width
3.5 = 1.5 * W
3.5 / 1.5 = W
2.333 = W
He should make the garden 2 1/3 yards wide.
