So this is how I did it
Finding LCM
1+x +2(1+x)/(1-x)(1+x)

I am going to guess that your mean:

1/(1-x) + 2/(1+x)

multiply tops and bottoms by
[(1-x)(1+x)]

[(1+x) + 2(1-x) ] /(1-x^2)

**** remember a^2-b^2 =(a-b)(a+b) ***

= [3 - x]/(1-x^2)
