Find th equation of the line that goes through (3,8) and (5,-8)

of course it isn't right
x = 3 would be a vertical line.
A quick sketch will show you that your 2 points do not lie along a vertical line
slope = m = (-8-8)/(5-3) = -16/2 = -8
equation:
y-8 = -8(x-3)
re-arrange to whatever form you learned.
