Where did you get those phoney figures? The moon is about 384,400 km from the earth.

Lisa descended 120 feet into a cave. She then climbed up 56 feet. If her starting point was 38 feet below sea level at the mouth of the cave, what is Lisa's elevation relative to sea level now?
Answered by Ms. Sue
-38 + -120 + 56 = -102 feet

more than likely Lucy meant
4 x 10^5 and 4 x 10^7 as the two distances

difference = 4(10^7) - 4(10^5)
= 4(10^5) (10^2 - 1)
= 4(99)(100,000) km farther
= 39,600,000 km more

or simply 40,000,000 - 400,000
= 39,600,000 km more
