The perimeter of an isosceles triangle is four times the length of the shortest side. The longer sides are 4.5 feet longer than the shortest side. What is the length of each side of the triangle?

y + 2 x = 4 y
x = y + 4.5
so
y + 2(y+4.5) = 4y

3 y + 9 = 4 y

y = 9
x = 13.5
