The media let's us know about the different human right violations and how they try to find that justice will be served. It sometimes takes longer for justice to take its corse and through the media we are able to follow it through.

What role does media have in reporting human rights violations
Answered by Kaylyn Edgar
The media helps us to become aware of the specific right that is being violated. We can support organisations that are against human rights violations.
I think the role of media is to give comment that is Fair and not harmful to one, that does not expose one's rights as well as one's privacy.

The media’s role is to ensure that the counter-checks and balances that are necessary to promote human rights to the audience. If there are reported human rights violations, then the media’s role is to ensure that the true story will be delegated to the people. The media should operate free from bias and report accordingly – which means that there should be no preference for stories in certain continents or contexts. By reporting human rights violations, society will be able to see what will happen and will encourage necessary assemblies to fight against these abuses.

The Media play a very vital role in the flow of information in society. They have the power in affecting the public opinion of an issue hence they must report information responsibly without slandering or being bias. They have the responsibility of ensuring that the incident is reported as it happened, without exaggerations and manipulations.

What role does the media play in reporting human rights violations responsibly?

The media plays a role in demonstrating how human rights violations can be reported. The media also has a very important role, namely the flow of information, i.e. it is their responsibility to make sure that the cases reported are true and that the community are aware of the violation and the consequences thereof. The media should also make sure that they do not consider certain violations more important than others, every violation is important. Because the media is such a big deal, they can influence the community's opinion on a matter and therefore they need to know for sure that they are reporting information in a responsible manner. They must report the incident in such a way that they are sure the story has not been manipulated and no person may exaggerate about the violation. Honesty is key!
