"Has your independent reading selection grabber your attention? Tell the title and author of your selection and then in 3-5 sentences explain why it has or has not grabbed your attention . support your response using evidence from the text."
My question is, can it be any book I've read ? Or does it has to be a book they give you ?

"your independent reading selection"
It sounds as if it's something YOU were supposed to choose and read. Could you choose anything you wanted? Or were you given a list of titles to choose from?

But were you given a list of books to choose from?
If so, you have your answer.
If not, then you can choose whatever you want.

You give an example of a book you read and explain why you recommend it or not. For example: I'm doing my answer on a book called the maze runner, I stated that "I recommend to read this book because it has a good message about with using teamwork, you can accomplish anything"

What it means is get your own book and find things that sound interesting like maybe an adventure in the book action, finding new stuff or like for example: "it grabbed my attention cause,Anna and joe had magical powers and they fought evil creatures with those powers." I hope this helps a little

All can have my answer
Yes, my book has grabbed my attention because it is a book about the military and i am a big fan of the USMC and the Navy SEALS. My book is called "No Easy Day" it is written by former Navy SEAL Mark Owen and Kevin Maurer. This book has grabbed m,y attention because unlike other books i have read I can visualize most of the things that are happening, When he says: " The EOD (Bomb) tech miscalculated and didn't double fuse the explosives so it didn't go off" I can picture an EOD tech in the process of double fusing an explosive charge. When he says hes on a "little bird" which is a kind of helicopter and its cold dark cramped and very uncomfortable I can picture a squad of four Navy SEALS cramped in a helicopter flying to their mission.

Look upon the internet for a short book. tell them why it has/ hasn't grabbed your attention in 3-5 sentences. Just pick a book and say it has "opened my mind" or "it has so much detail and interest" so easy. All you have to do. It is simple. good luck.

If you see this on connect then this means it’s talking about the unit that you just read or on it’s not any other it’s about Scrooge

it can be any book you want for example I used harry, potter
the only exception is that you choose a book near your reading level
so if you're in 12th grade don't use a 1st grader book

Hi hoomans
I'm in the class this is for. (6th grade ELA) The independent reading is something you pick on your own. My irl for the unit I'm in is acually a book I have already read but they don't know that. So if you have a book that you rlly like you can just RE READ it. Also don't make it seem like you have already read it.
