    2 and 4 don't make sense.  How does one prepare FOR a pencil and an eraser?  Are they going to attack?  3 is grammatical, but I don't know why you would prepare a pencil for me if you are going to use it to take the test.  #1 is the only one that is grammatical and makes sense.
