by definition (√a)^2 = a
or, using the rules of exponents,
√a = a^(1/2)
so, (√a)^2 = (a^(1/2))^2 = a^(2 * 1/2) = a^1 = a
or, using the rules of exponents,
√a = a^(1/2)
so, (√a)^2 = (a^(1/2))^2 = a^(2 * 1/2) = a^1 = a

any square root multiplied by itself is the base number.
sqrt(3)*sqrt(3)=(sqrt(3))^2=3
sqrt(3)*sqrt(3)=(sqrt(3))^2=3
