I disagree. New England (except for Rhode Island) was very strict about adherence to Protestantism.

The correct answer is New England and Middle. I got the answer correct, but here is an explaination. Free to be you and me? In the middle colonies: yes! Pennsylvania (founded by Quaker William Penn) and the other middle colonies were tolerant of other religions. As for New England, they may not have been quite as accepting, but they did get their start when the Pilgrims needed a new place to practice their religion.
