v = omega r so omega = v/r
I =(1/2) m r^2

(1/2) m v^2 + (1/2) I omega^2

=(1/2) m v^2 + (1/2)m r^2 (v^2/r^2)

= m v^2

half the energy is linear and half is rotational ;)
