If f(x) and g(x) are two functions defined by f(x) = ã(x + 1), g(x) = | x - 1 |, then what is the value of f(g(9))?

well, just plug in the values!
g(9) = |9-1| = 8
f(g(9)) = f(8) = √(8+1) = 3
