change 9 to base 3 as 9 = 3^2

(3^2)^x^2 = 3^(-5x - 2)

so :
2x^2 = -5x-2
2x^2 + 5x + 2= 0
(2x + 1)(x + 2) = 0
x = -1/2 or x = -2
