Madeline had a class ratio of 5:4 boys to girls in her classroom. If there were 27 kids in her class how many girls were there?

for each nine kids, 5 were girls.
for 27 kids, then 5*3 were girls

the rest were boys.

Notice the ratio 5:4 is the same as 15:12
