6a would be present tense = I lay the book down now.
6b would be the past tense = I laid my book on the table, but now (check spelling there) I cannot find it.

9a = built = is the spelling, past tense
9b. have build = correct for Present Perfect.

25a for many cities = check your spelling
25b = the spelling is correct.
