There are nine oak trees in a park. The oak trees make up 45% of all the trees in the park. How many trees are in the park?

This is how I wold solve this:

9 * .45 = ?

Use a calculator or something to figure it out.

These answers make absolutely no sense!! If there are 9 oak trees, how can there only be 4 trees total???

Let x = the total number of trees.

0.45x = 9

x = 9 / 0.45

x = 20
