a 20 metre length of cloth is cut into two pieces in the ratio 1:9. how long is each piece?

it would be 2.2 I think if you divided

short piece --- x
long piece ---- 9x
x + 9x = 20
10x=20
x=2

the short piece is 2 m
the long piece is 18 m
