the GCD is x(x+3)(x+1), so if you clear fractions you get

3(x+3)(x+1) + 6(x)(x+1) = 8(x)(x+3)
3x^2+12x+9 + 6x^2+6x = 8x^2+24x
x^2 - 6x + 9 = 0
(x-3)(x-3) = 0
x = 3
