An insulin pump and an insulin pin are acceptable but I would call those the same treatment; i.e., with insulin. The difference is in the delivery system. Not all diabetics take insulin. There are other drugs available which work in some cases. Much of the treatment depends upon whether the diabates is Type I or Type II. In fact, many diabetics take no medicine at all; they control the problem with diet. The diet path is not available to those with Type I diabetes.
