what are your answers?
I will tell you if they are right or wrong.

sherm
4 2/3-1 1/6= 4/6-1/6= (3 3/6) 10 1/2-6 2/5= 5/10-4/10= (4 1/10)
Reiny
4 2/3-1 1/6
= 14/3 - 7/6
= 28/6 - 7/6
= 21/6
= 7/2 or 3 1/2
Your second has the correct answer, but is nonsense in between
10 1/2-6 2/5
= 21/2 - 32/5 , ( LCD = 10 )
= 105/10 - 64/10
= 41/10 or 4 1/10
PS, I always consider an "improper" fraction in lowest terms a better fraction than the mixed fraction.
A mixed fraction in most cases is not usable and has to be converted into an improper fraction anyway.
I hope that someday they will come up with a better name for "improper" fraction, maybe something like "good fraction"
