When the bases are the same...
for MULTIPLICATION add the exponents
for DIVISION subtract the exponents when the bases are the same.
1. Simplify
26 ⋅ 26^8
2. Simplify
(-5)^5 / (-5)^-6
3. Simplify
8^15 ÷ 8^-3
2 answers
1. 26^1 * 26^8 = 26^9.
2. (-5)^5/(-5)^-6 = (-5)^11.
Note: I subtracted the exponent in the denominator from
the exponent in numerator.
3. Same procedure as #2.
2. (-5)^5/(-5)^-6 = (-5)^11.
Note: I subtracted the exponent in the denominator from
the exponent in numerator.
3. Same procedure as #2.
