I really need help

OHHHH, wait, correct me if i'm wrong, but the lcd for problems like this are most likely the denominator of the 2 fraction being combined?
So the first one, all I had to do was divide it normally? Do I do that if there are no lcd's for problems like that?
For the second example, how did you get to 2x/5 and 4/5?
