No, 'common denominator' is what you do when adding fractions. This is algebra.
Are you sure the first equation isn't
x + 6Y = 19?
What you have written as the first equation could be simplified to x = 13.
You could use that and the second equation to solve for y
X+6=19
X-7Y=-7
I cant remeber how to do this but think i need to find a common denominator?

sorry yes the question should read
x+6y=19
x-7y=-7
pls help
x+6y=19
x-7y=-7
pls help
I thought so.
Subtract the second equation from the first. That gives you
13y = 26. Take it from there.
Divide both sides by 13 to get y, and then use y to get x, using either of the first two equations.
