Write a paragraph on the similarities and differences of isolationism and internationalism.

A: Isolationism and internationalism are distinctly different from each other. Isolationism is the policy of avoiding involvement in world affairs, whereas internationalism is the policy of actively trading with foreign countries to create prosperity and help prevent war. In addition, isolationism helped benefit the people, while internationalism was beneficial to countries throughout the entire world. The purposes of these policies, however, are very similar. Both of these policies were meant to foster peace, whether it be for just the United States or the world as a whole.

During the First World War, Americans made many sacrifices. Making such sacrifices again seemed pointless to them. Hence, they wanted nothing to do with internationalism. They did not want to get involved in affairs that could drag the nation into another foreign war.

Your statement that isolationist policies AND internationalism both benefit the people is confusing. How so? HOW did each benefit the people, and were there any ways one or the other or both might NOT benefit the people?
