Technical drawings are blue prints for something. They are generally drawn by an engineer, are very detailed and standardized for the industry, and can be taken from drawing to production without any further alterations. You simply cannot present an engineer or builder with a drawing that shows the basic idea; you need to have something specific with measurements and notations. Of course, as with most jobs these days, these drawings are done on computers now and require an engineer proficient in such programs.
