Why do you need to use appropriate punctuation, including plurals and possessives, in your writing?

When someone reads something you have written, what sort of opinion would you like them to have? Would that be uneducated, irresponsible, illiterate? If, for example, it is a job resumé, it would go in "file thirteen." (wastepaperbasket)
