Phoenix and Athens are at similar latitudes (about 35 N and 38 N, respectively) so their temperatures are similar.
However, Philadelphia is about 40 N and London is at 52 N. The U.K. has warmer temperatures because of the Gulf Stream that flows into the North Atlantic Drift Current. It starts in the warm Caribbean region and flows north to warm the U.K.
Why do Phoenix and Athens have a similar Temperature? Why do Philadelphia and London have a similar temperature?
