Why did the English establish colonies in the Americas?
The English established colonies in the Americas because the King of England wanted to bring the people that didn't celebrate the same religion their own community. He allowed them to spread their own religion throughout that small community, he also wanted to explore and claim new land in the process.

I think you have the priorities of the king and Parliament reversed. They were anxious to explore and claim new land first. Letting the Puritans go to the New World was more for domestic politics. If they wanted to be different, let 'em go, and if they wanted to go to the New World, it gave the crown a new colony to accomplish the first goal.
