It is the reciprocal of powers of two.
Starting with one, and multiply by two successively, you'll get
1,2,4,8,16,32,...
Take the reciprocal of these numbers, you'll get the given series, namely
1, 1/2, 1/2^2, 1/2^3, 1/2^4, ...
Whts next after 1,1/2,1/4,1/8...
It's a pattern.
