Which one of the following statements about the gate-control theory is true?

A) Pain impulses create a gate leading to the brain.

B) The brain is capable of generating pain on its own.

C) The gate closes when pain messages go to the brain.

D) Damage to small nerve fibers lets pain through to the brain.

I ruled out (A) and (B)

I really believe its (D) because the book says, "But when the body tissue is injured, the large fibers are damaged and smaller fibers open the gate, allowing pain messages to reach the brain unchecked"

Haven't completely ruled out (C) because the book also says, "Normally , the gate is kept shut, either by impules...or by signals coming down from the brain itself"

Please help!

I think you're are right about C.
So you believe its (C)? Books says that gate kept shut unless by signals coming down from the brain. So, now I'm starting to doubt (B) The brain is capable of generating pain on its on. If (C) is the right answer then several other answeres could be right, correct?

I still lean towards (D) but so confused.
It can't be "D" because the book says large fibers not small. I think "b" is the correct answer.
I'm sure it is not C . i think it is B
