The layer of the atmosphere most strongly affected by conditions on Earth's surface is the troposphere. This is the lowest layer of the atmosphere, extending from the Earth's surface up to about 8 to 15 kilometers (5 to 9 miles) in altitude, depending on geographic location and weather conditions.
In the troposphere, weather phenomena occur, and the temperature decreases with altitude. It is here that we experience the effects of weather patterns, such as clouds, rain, and storms, which are influenced by surface conditions like temperature, humidity, and land use. The troposphere contains about 75% of the atmosphere's mass and most of its water vapor, making it the layer that is most directly linked to the Earth's surface.
