Uneven heating of Earth's surface produces wind because warm air rises and cool air sinks. When certain areas of the Earth receive more sunlight and become warmer, the air above those areas also warms up and rises. This creates an area of low pressure. In contrast, cooler areas have denser air that sinks, creating an area of high pressure.

As air moves from high pressure to low pressure areas to equalize the pressure, wind is created. This process, known as convection, is driven by the uneven heating of Earth's surface and results in the formation of wind patterns.
