What is the process called that could be used to sepate dissolved particles from the liquid in a solution

2 answers

If the particles are dissolved (such as salt in saltwater), you can use freezing, distillation (evaporation of the solvent) or reverse osmosis to separate the dissolved NaCl. The dissolved solid is excluded from the material that freezes, or left behind if the solvent evaporates. Reverse osmosis creates two liquid streams, one of which is pure solvent that passes through a filter membrane.
