What is the element whose 2+ cation's highest energy electron has the following set of quantum numbers, n=5, l=2, ml=1, and m.s=+1/2 for its highest energy electron?
I know, based on the quantum numbers, that its referring to a 5d sublevel. Is it Ba?
How can I find the solution?
Thanks

I don't think the answer is Ba. I agree it is a 4d electron for l = 2
then what is it?
Apply the same reasoning to the Co question that we now know is the correct way to look at the problem.
