What are the oxidation numbers of nitrogen, hydrogen and oxygen in HNO3?
H: +1, N: –7, O: +2
H: –1, N: –5, O: +2
H: +1, N: +5, O: –2
H: –1, N: +7, O: –2
A?

I disagree with A. You picked A because you assigned +2 for O but the oxidation number for O is -2. N in HNO3 is +5.
So it would be C?
Yes.
