What aldehydes and primary alcohols might be oxidized to yield the following carboxylic acids:
1)p-methylhexanoic acid
2)pentanoic acid
#1 should have been p-methylcyclohexanoic acid (p is para). My homework has the structure drawn out and I named it wrong. Sorry. It has a CH3-cylcohexane ring-COOH and the CH3 is across from the COOH. That is p-methylcyclohexanoic acid right?

Para (p-), meta (m-), and ortho (o-) are only used for derivatives of benzene. Your acid was probably 4-methylcyclohexanoic acid.
